PENGARUH PENDEKATAN TaRL BERBANTUAN MEDIA KARTU KALIMAT TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR BAHASA INDONESIA MATERI KATA HOMONIM SISWA KELAS IV SD

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effect of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach assisted by sentence-card media (Kartu Kalimat) on the Indonesian language learning outcomes of fourth-grade students on the topic of homonyms. The problem addressed was the wide diversity of students’ readiness in determining word meaning from sentence context. A quantitative pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest–posttest design was used. The participants were all 17 fourth-grade students of SDN 6 Purwawinangun, Kuningan, selected by total sampling. The instrument was a written test of eight multiple-choice items and one essay item (maximum score 12), administered before and after the lesson, with a mastery criterion (KKTP) of 75. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk test, the paired-samples t-test, the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, and N-Gain. The mean score increased from 64.18 to 78.47 (mean gain 14.29 points). The paired-samples t-test showed a significant difference (t(16) = 5.551; p < 0.001; Cohen’s d = 1.35), confirmed by the Wilcoxon test (p < 0.001). The mean N-Gain was 0.44 (moderate). The number of students reaching the KKTP rose from 9 (52.94%) to 12 (70.59%). The developing group gained the most (N-Gain 0.54), whereas the group needing guidance remained below the KKTP. It is concluded that TaRL assisted by sentence cards has a positive and significant effect on learning outcomes, although the absence of a control group limits causal claims.
